I immediately gravitated toward Pilates because of it’s “smart” movements and the meanings behind them. In other words, Pilates exercises are extremely efficient and effective. After a class I always walk away feeling a little sharper in the mind and stronger and longer in the body. I’m able to take that with me throughout my day and into other physical activities I participate in.
Recently I’ve started to love poses I used to really struggle with - Warrior One, Triangle pose, Pyramid, Half Moon...I think time and practice have shifted my mindset in these postures. So if there’s a pose you struggle with, just give it some time!
Kendra will be teaching Mighty Flow and Mighty Foundations on Saturday mornings.
I started practicing yoga in college to decompress and relieve stress. I also had numerous injuries from dance training and was trying to find an alignment focused technique to help heal my body. I started in the Ashtanga method which I loved and then branched out into Vinyasa Flow and Anusara styles to continue deepening my knowledge base. All these styles helped me heal in different ways.
Having an empathetic heart that wants to see joy in the world and for everyone to succeed and live to their maximum potential. Also, I can rock a pretty mighty and flighty Tittibhasana (Firefly pose) on most days :)
Favorite yoga pose: Revolved Triangle...it's one part of the practice that helps me twist out all sorts of bad energy, stretch the whole body, and, at the same time, makes me feel like I'm weaving through museum security laser lights.
Yoga is...a companion.
My NON-guilty pleasure is... giving my roommate's dog an extra treat now-and-then.
When I wake up in the morning, I always do these two things... A) make a French press of coffee and B) drink it all.
