Mighty Yogi of the Month: July 2016

Name: Mike Webb

Favorite yoga pose: I don’t have a favorite pose, they all serve a purpose and that is to bring me into the present moment, which is why I practice yoga.

Yoga is...an infinite journey of self discovery.

How do you serve the world?
I serve the world by bringing compassionate listening and understanding to all beings.

What do you love most about your yoga practice?
I love that I can be my authentic self without fearing judgment.

What fuels you?
Serving humanity in anyway I can.

My NONguilty pleasures are...
Quirky Indie Films and Fantasy Basketball.

What makes you Mighty?
My resilient nature.

What’s your yoga story? How did you start practicing?
My first exposure to yoga was in acting class where I met a fellow student who exuded a magnetic glow that I wanted. I was curious what was the source of this glow? I asked him what he did? He said, “I teach Yoga.” I was intrigued by the idea of trying yoga but I was afraid I would not be good at it. A few years later a friend invited me to an advanced Vinyasa class at the original Power Yoga studio in Santa Monica, CA. That first class was as excruciating as I feared it would be. But afterwards, I was floating in bliss, feeling totally rejuvenated and energized. I was hooked. This was better than any drug I’d ever tried, and from that point on, I practiced like a madman, hungry for the high it gave me.

If you had a superpower what would it be and why?
My superpower would be to wave a wand that would instantly awake people to the truth of who they really are. When I wake up in the morning, I always do these two things... Meditate for at least twenty minutes and make my bed impeccably.

What's the best advice you've ever received?
Nothing anyone does, thinks or says has anything to do with me.
