I first discovered yoga nearly ten years ago while attending nursing school. At the time, my mind was constantly spinning, my body was tired, and my mental health was struggling. I had heard about mindfulness and the idea of “being present,” but I didn’t know how to translate those concepts into my daily life.

Then I stepped into my first yoga class at my college recreation center. Guided by a very special teacher, I spent 60 minutes returning to my breath and noticing the simple sensations of my body moving. For the first time, I caught a glimmer of what true presence felt like. That experience of peace and connection kept me returning to my mat week after week.

Over time, yoga taught me how to step off the spinning wheel of rushing, quiet my mind, and connect with a sense of gratitude, awe, and stillness. The gifts I find on my mat continue to shine into the rest of my life, helping me move through the world with greater presence and compassion.

My decision to teach was inspired by the ripple effect of my first teacher’s warmth, welcoming presence, and simple guidance. She created an atmosphere of community and acceptance that helped me recognize the light within myself and in those around me. I hope to continue that ripple by creating a space where others feel supported in connecting with their own sense of peace, presence, and inner light.

I am honored to teach at Mighty Yoga because presence remains at the heart of every class, from Yin to Rockin’ Flow. I love that each teacher brings their own unique energy while contributing to a shared sense of connection and community. Mighty has helped me find stillness amid a busy life, and I am grateful for the opportunity to help others experience that same gift.
