June Yogi of the Month (Hanover)

Meet Mallory!

What's your favorite yoga pose?

Ragdoll often surprises me, being more challenging than I anticipate. I love to linger in this pose to feel the effect of the earth (gravity) on my body, releasing stored tension.

What is your favorite outdoor activity?

I love gardening! Though I don’t yet have a garden of my own, I enjoy volunteering at Willing Hands in Norwich. There’s something very grounding and restorative about working together with friends and strangers alike to contribute to a greater goal without expectation of “reaping what you sow” (at least not in the literal sense).

When you think of summer, what are 3 things that pop into your mind?

Long walks with friends, iced lavender lattes, and good beach reads!

What is something about you that your Mighty community may not know about you?

After I graduated from college, I taught English in Germany for a few years. I lived in Regensburg, Nuremberg, Heidelberg, and Cologne during my time abroad. My favorite part of the German summer is how much time people spend outside-whether it’s reading in parks, socializing with friends, hammocking, or grabbing ice cream—you feel so connected to the people around you (an attitude I’m always trying to cultivate!). Eating at outdoor patios, strolls through the city, and picnics on the river are some of my favorite memories from Germany!

What makes you Mighty?

My body’s energy and capabilities. Yoga has done so much to teach me how to listen to what my body needs. I approach my practice with curiosity and exploration rather than strain or competition. My body is already mighty, and yoga helps draw my attention to that strength routinely.
