As a recently relocated North Carolinian, I was terrified for my first New England winter. I didn’t know how I’d take to the cold weather, but I knew I needed a way to move my body and soothe my mind as I counted down the days until mud season (another new concept for me, replete with its own challenges!). So, I braved driving in the snow for the first time and found my way to Mighty. I haven’t looked back yet!
Growing up in dance and sports, I’d taken a yoga class here and there, but hadn’t fully committed to the practice. But now, thanks to Mighty, what began as a reprieve from the New Hampshire snow has evolved into a consistent practice across the seasons. While I originally came to yoga in search of a good sweat, it’s the practice of mindfulness that keeps me coming back. I love the way that yoga continually pushes me to sink a little lower, breathe a little deeper, and become a little more present in my body. I love how, by turning my attention fully inward on the mat, I can feel myself growing stronger with each passing class.
I joined the Mighty team to contribute to the special community culture here. I love chatting with the students as they come in for class, and I pride myself on learning everyone’s names, even if it sometimes takes a visit or two. Off the mat, I’m a grad student at Dartmouth, so you can usually find me knee-deep in course readings or halfway finished with a term paper. I love going to the movies, discovering new music for my playlists, and cuddling with my cat, Nosferatu (yes, like the vampire).
